After 4 or 5 days of cloud and low 20 temperatures, the sun returned on Tuesday morning (October 21), as temperatures soared to around 30C. We immediately headed out the door to world famous Sugarloaf Mountain, for the 360 degree view of Rio and its surrounding islands. We caught the gondela that leaves from Rio, and stretches across cables first to one lower view and then to the peak of Sugarloaf. Sugarloaf is the most odd shaped mountain i have seen, but it is spectacular much like its view. After photos and relaxing for a bit, we made the trek down by gondela again and headed back to the apartment, where due to the sun we headed straight to Ipanema beach, as we both needed a tan to show for before we got home. We laid around Ipanema for about 2 1/2 hours, and then returned to the apartment.
At night headed to Alessandras familys home, which is on Isla do Governador, and right beside the favellas. Very interesting in the taxi, going through about 2 hours of traffic to get there, and the cab driver needing to ask about 8 people for directions as there are no street signs
in that area. Met her mom, dad, and brother, and her cousin who had come out with us earlier. She also had 2 dogs and 2 more puppies. For dinner we had lasagna, red wine and passionfruit mouse, all was very good. Afterwards headed home and prepared for the last day in this crazy and fun city.
The last day in Rio was a total relaxation day, the weather cooperated, so me, Dylan and Ale headed to Ipanema as it was 30C by 10:30am, we sat there on the beach for 5 hours, caught some rays and headed back to the apartment around 3:30pm and off to the airport at 4pm for the flight home.
