The gang!Rich, Ben, Fiona and me on our gorgeous boat trip
Beautiful colonial style town by the sea, amazing islands, cobbled streets, gorgeous boat trips and more...
Monday 31st August
5 hour bus ride from Rio to the beautiful seaside town of Paraty.
Paraty is so quaint!! We´re staying in a hostel in the historic centre, where all the streets are cobbled and there are no cars, only horses and carriages.
This week they are celebrating the Fiesta of our Lady of ´Remedies´ or Help, so there were lots of fireworks last night, and stalls selling churros (long fried sugary doughnuts), fresh fruit, candyfloss etc. They had a big open air mass going on as well when we wandered round the main square.
It definitely feels a lot safer than Rio. In Rio we would hear a new story everyday from someone in the hostel who had been mugged on the beach or on the street, so we never took anything except a little money with us everyday (oh and the odd sneaky camera sometimes!).
After a lovely dinner of fish (when by the sea....) we headed off for one of the most peaceful night´s I´ve had in a looooooong time! No banging doors,
VICTORY!Private boat trip to paradise island to pick up my forgotten havaianas....I leave things everywhere we go so I was determined to get these back!
lound music, snoring (well maybe Ben a little!), drunk people stumbling around, or traffic noise....only Rich´s Casio watch beeping!!
Tuesday 1st September
MOST AMAZING BOAT TRIP EVER TODAY!!
For about 15 pounds we went on a lovely old boat which sailed round all the pituresque islands near Paraty. They were all stunning with amazing white sand and deep bluey green sea. We swam off the boat a few times (with a slide and float too, haha, kids at heart really!), and lay on some of the beaches eating our lunch, and enjoying the live music and juicy watermelon provided for us.
I forgot my havainas on one of the paradie like deserted islands, so I was privately escorted back to it, with my own little boat and escort to pick them up.....LUXURY!!!!
