THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE! please read...

31st January - 5th February


Buzios, originally a fishing village, made famous in the 1960s when it was 'discovered' by Brigette Bardot.

walking through Buzios, you pass endless little boutique shops, fancy restaurants, cafes and bars.


We rented a beautiful house for 5 days. and spent some of the best days of my year-long trip in South America.


Introducing the housemates...
Lucila- the woman that makes me laugh like no other. and makes me feel like no one before. famous words "mummy", "stalker", "iznt that weirred"
Micaela- easy going. "why not" "porque no"
Flor- always great for a chat, and forever in love with "ACAI", arent we all!
Yvanka- pulls the best faces without realising. "iznt that weirred!"
Marco- leaves a trail of broken hearted "puppies" everywhere he goes
Mario- yours truly, clearly the life of every party!



The beaches of Buzios are small and intimate. We discovered many of the surrounding beaches, lazing on the beaches during the day, happy to laze and do nothing!! which we did extremely well!


i spent most of my time in the company of the exciting and beautiful Lucila. a 24yo medical student from BA, Argentina, who makes me crazy and makes me say and do the stupidest things. to see the woman laugh would make you happy just to be in her presence. so much i can say about this woman that captures me like no one has before, but i think it may be too personal for the public access of this travelblog.


Most nights were spent entertaining each other in our appartment. we all got along brilliantly...then the last day came, before our 2 groups were to separate....so started The BEST DAY OF MY LIFE


waking up to a beautifully sunny day in our beautiful appartment, we made our way to the beach where another perfect chilled day was inevtiable. eating toasted cheese on a stick and drinking caipirinhas on the sunbaked sandy beaches. eating an awesome ACAI from the man walking along the beach. Playing racket ball whilst the waves gently soothed our feet. Lucila and I unable to part from each other all day. We took romantic walks along the beach.


In the evening, we all helped to organise one of the best BBQs ever! Starting the fire was left to the men. little did they know that it was the first time that me and Marco EVER attempted to start a BBQ with coal! so multiple newspapers, woodsticks, candle wax later, we finally found some petrol- that definitely got the fire going!
Great company! Great food! We laughed like ive never laughed before in my life. we played drinking games and drank and were so happy.

Then we headed out to a club playing great dance music. All 6 of us danced together the whole night, as though no one else in the club mattered.
We took so many photos with my camera that the battery finished!!
a random couple came up to Lucila and I said that we looked perfect together. The guy said that his girlfriend hit him for thinking she was the most beautiful woman in the club! i don't blame him! she looked amazing that night!

Then the sun-rise started shining into the club, the lights came on, and we walked out into the early morning rays.

We walked out onto the pier. this was to be the best part of the previous 24hours. Camera was out of battery, so that the memories of what happened are ingrained in the memory of us lucky 6 that were there to share in the happiest day of my life. We all got crazy!
Lucila takes a running sprint and jumps in the water. A minute later, she pulls Yvanka in with her clothes on. Marco then picks Flor up and throws her in the water. Mica then I take off our shoes and just jump off the pier with our clothes on. Marco strips to his undies (the most sensible one!) and joins us. We laughed so hard. We were like kids again. It was like something out of a movie.

And then i get out at one point and Lucila, out of nowhere, gets out and grabs me and pulls me right back into the water.

and it was at that moment, in the water, with the sunset rising from the horizon, i realised that if a woman can give me the best day of my life and make me feel and act crazy, there was no doubt in mind....and i simply said

"Marry me"

when she said yes, i screamed!
