Hello!! :o)
Sorry for the delay (again!!) - havent had much internet access the last few days but will make up for it now!! :o)
We left Sao Paulo on Tuesday afternoon and took the bus up to Foz do Iguazu! The bus was really nice - the seats were huge and really comfy so was really quite looking forward to the journey and getting to relax and sleep until.... the bus broke down!! twice!! :o( I had an incling it was going to happen because just before we broke down the bus started to smelly funny.... of petrol or something and I joked that the engine had blown up, then 2 seconds later we pulled over! Obviously all the men got off and crowded round the engine rubbing their chins and all pretending they knew how to fix the problem! A couple of hours later the mechanic came and fixed it! It was actually quite fun though as we met an English girl on the bus (yey! finally had girl company!!) and while we waiting went to the supermarket and bought a few beers and and lots of naughty food! I found meringues so that made my day!
:o) And we sat on the grass listening to Babyshambles (bet u can guess which song Michi hehe!!)! Then we were off again, still finding it quite funny that the bus had broken down as it had ended up being really fun (and i was still in heaven with my meringues) but then 10minutes later the bus broke down again by which time the novelty was starting to wear off! By then they decided we needed a completely new bus, which came a few hours later!! But the new bus wasnt as great as the last bus - the seats were smaller and werent as comfy and didnt recline as much but the main problem was that the bus absolutely STANK of WEE!! hehe!! it was really really gross!! so yup... spent the next 16 hours sitting in a wee bus! :o( And it was soooooo cold - the bus had the air conditioning (which was obviously being ventilated through the toilet hehe) going the whole time (despite asking them to turn it off) and it was horrible! None of us could get much sleep as we were too busy turning into icicles! :o( At some point we stopped for
a break in the early hours of the morning and I got literally ALL of my clothes out of my rucksack - had about 5 jumpers on! It was still freezing but much better and managed to get a bit of sleep! :o)
Finally got to Foz do Iguazu at noon on Wednesday and got a taxi to the hostel as we couldnt face another bus! Managed to convince the English girl to come with us too so I wasnt on my own in a room which was nice! :o) The hostel was really nice - it had a pool, loads of hammocks, pool, table tennis ect the only problem was that it poured with rain the whole time we were there so didnt get to use any of it! :o( That afternoon we headed to the Brazilian waterfalls which was amazing (apart from it pouring with rain!) and took more pictues than the Japanese tourists!! :o)
That evening we cooked pasta at the hostel to save money! It was disgusting though.... I went to use the internet while they were cooking as i wanted to check the weather for the next day (Thursday) so we could decide
whether to do the Argentinien waterfalls on Thursday or Friday depending on the weather, and when I got back theyd finished cooking! I dont know what they did, I didnt even know it was possible to mess up pasta but it was really disgusting so I ended up eating a tin of sweetcorn instead (made me think of you Katrin - i hope your proud hehe!!)
Right... Ill put the pictures of the Brazilian side up now (dont worry - not all of them!!) and do a seperate blog for Argentina because then it records all the different places on a map for me! :o)
Lots of love, Lisa xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
