David and his family were awesome hosts. Enjoyed the VIP treatment of a well-known pop star on David's Island...they love having their Davey coming home to see them! Went to an awesome wedding as well(How many backpackers get to wear a suit?). Thanks to my misplacement of a certain camera cord, these are the only pictures I can put up... We decided it was time to move on from Buzios - we were getting far too accustomed to the easy life! So with our backpacks tightly packed we boarded the bus to Rio. A short three hours later we were at the general bus station. We had some difficulty reserving our tickets for the trip to Vitoria online, so we had to pick them up from the ticket desk. Thankfully we found a ticket guy who saw the humour in our lack of Portuguese and as we surrendered our passport, he completed the necessary paperwork on our behalf. We were curious about the travel arrangement on the night bus to Vitoria. Strange times in domingos martins...
Published: January 18th 2009South America » Brazil » Espírito Santo » VitóriaHello! here we go again.... not much has happened since we last blogged. we are 42km west of Vitoria in a small mountain town called domingos martins, the beddgelert of brazil! if we thought the rest of brazil was too civilized then its nothing compared to this place! you have to wipe your feet before leaving your hotel!!! theres a big german influence here which just makes the whole experince very strange, the whole town is chalet like and ahs the oddest christmas deco´s... they have made their own wooden christmas tree in the square!! still have not found any waterfalls or incredible walks... infact, the town is tucked between high peaks and cliffs so im guessing the only way is up up up!
