We've spent a couple of days in Salvador da Bahia - the centre of Afro-Brazilian culture! We are in Pelourinho - the safe, tourist area of the city. Unfortunately because of security there are not many other places you can visit, and no others at night so it feels a bit like a bubble in which you can't really get a feel for the place. Although that's probably not helped by the fact that lots of shops and museums are closed for Easter! The hostel, Las Laranjeiras, is really cool and always bustling with activity. We're off to Lencois later for some trekking and coming back to Salvador for a day later in the week to look around some of things that are closed at the moment. Getting into the swing of travelling now and met some really cool people already.
