In the jungle amazon trip day 3

we woke up after a very broken nights sleep to find micheal had already cooked boiled eggs for breakfast. we found it noisy during the night cos of all the animals and the rain falling from the canopy. we were also a bit cold which we thought was a bit surpriseing as we expected it to be hot. think the rain had cooled everything down a bit! after breakfast we packed up camp and left our stuff there while we went for a walk in the jungle. didn´t get to see much as the loggers activity had scaryed most of the animals away. we heard a large thud which micheal said was a baboon. we didnt see it but micheal caught a glimpse.
afetr walking for a while, we went collected the stuff and got in the boat back to the lodge. the journey back was long and boring. we went for a swim when we got back with alex and petra. we both jumped in from the boat, only once though as we discovered its not nice being forced under the water then having to swim for the rope to hold onto, especially when you really dont fancy drinking any of the water!! we spent time before and after lunch lazing around in the water and in the sun waiting for the boat back to mauaus to arrive. when the boat came we got on to set up our hammocks for the journey back. we also bought a can of drink each for the journey. it was a while before we left and we had to moore up to wait for the other people on trips who were returnin to manaus.
on the way back the sea got quite rough so we had to abandon hammocks as we were rocking round quite violently, in danger of falling out!!! it was late when we got back to the dock and edwardo met us and put us in a taxi back to our hotel with two guys who were also satying there. when we got back to the hotel, it was hard to get the guy to undersatnd us as he only spoke portugese but eventually we got a room and our bags back. they were luckly exaclty as we had left them!
our room was directly beneath our previos one, but looked like it had been decorated more recenlty, and the air con was better and quieter than the previous one which was good!!! we went out o find a place to eat but again everywhere seemed to be shut so we had to go back to the hotel and have a biscuit we had brought from home and the can of beer and pepsi we had bought from the lodge - nutitious hey! when we were repacking our bags i found a rather squished mars bar which was an unexpected bonus!!! after finishing packin we ended up goin to bed as there wa nothing to do and all the tv is in portusese!!
the next morning we ate breakfast in the hotel this time we tried some of the weirder stuff to, some good, some not so good. we then headed out shopping, again everywhere round the hotel was shut so we went back to the hotel to cool down again before goin out again. this time we headed out more towards the dock, things down there were starting to open up more. we bought a hammock!!!! then headed back via the internet place which was still shut. we looked for more internet plaves but they were all shut which was annoying. all these blogs were supposed to be written from there instead of being so behind!! we checked out the hotel and decided to go to the airport early as there was nothing to do in manaus, it was too hot to just walk round. in the taxi on the way to the airport a thermometer was reading 37degrees!!
we wasted time wandering round the airport before goin to the gate. we were much later boarding than we expected as it was after our flight time, but the boards didn´t mention any delay!!! we also had a delay in brasilia, but the rest of the flight was pretty boring. we got a taxi from the airport to the hotel Santa Clara. our room is nice, odd layout thought, to sit at one of the chairs at the table you have to climb over the bed, was late when we arrived so we went to bed so we could get up early. watched some tv as there are some american channels on here, some just have portugese subtitles which we can cope with but others are really badly dubbed!!!!
will write more soon but at the moment wrists kinda ache from catching up to now and we want to go back to the beach!!!
yes shanthi, we still have all our fingers and toes!!!
