Finally getting ready to leave Bolivia. Wow, we did NOT plan on being here so long, but it has been a great time. Caught a bus from La Paz to Copacabana (not in Brazil, it´s a big town on the shore of Lake Titikaka), about 3 hours. We got in rather late, so we watched the sunset over the water and had some fresh fish (only place in Bolivia, as it´s a landlocked country). We took advantage of our last hot shower for a while and then the next morning set off. We hiked for almost 8 hours up the peninsula, headed towards Isla del Sol. It was long, it was high up, and a LOT of uphill, so it was quite taxing. We stopped at this crazy Bolivian who wanted to show us literally about 100 postcards. He ofered us a room, and we were beat, so we took it, and piloed on the blankets (its freezing there!!). In the morning we finished our hike to Yampupata, and took a boat to Isla del Sol. We checked out the ruins of the sun, where the sun was supposedly born, then hiked to the largest town on the island. Stopped for

some food, then continued our trek. When we could hike no more, we pulled off the path and made camp behind a stand of eucalyptus trees, among a bunch of thyme. Nice smelling place. Tried to make a fire, but all we had was dead leaves and bark, no branches...it didn´t last long. Finally just played some cards and passed out. The next morning I woke up feeling absolutely horrible. I had gotten food poisoning. We tried to make it across the island anyway (i was determined), but eventually I gave up. We laid on a beach for a while and had a snack, and then headed back to camp. After spending another night, we took a boat back to Copacabana, and then hopped on a bus to Puno, then headed to Cuzco, Peru. Bye, Bolivia!!!
