Well it has been an entertaining week or so! With probably far too much non-interesting stuff and all the good bits forgotten, but I will try and run through.
Despite an epic attempt at getting a bus to Salta which arrived 30 minutes before the bus we wanted to get to Chile, we failed in our mission and got holed up in Salta for a few days! All good though, because we busted out some extreme fun and went rafting and canope touring. I say extreme fun, the rafting was about as extreme as a wet fart - level 3 is for girls, but the canope was awesome, zip lining 600m high over a big canyon!
Then on Sunday it was on to the madness of San Pedro in Chile, and the Salt Flats of Uyuni... oh. dear. god.
We'd heard horror stories of breaking down jeeps and stuff, and it seems we truly lived the dream. On the first night we got holed up in a back to basics joint, in -20 degrees cold, and i slept in all my clothes and a sleeping bag, on a mattress that was pretty much stone.
The next day
took in a fair few lagoons, and a volcano, we a stop at a slightly nicer hotel which even had hot water.
Then came the trouble. After a 5AM start to catch the sun rise over the salt flats, our jeep broke down in the middle of them at about 6AM. Cue freezing cold, waiting for other jeeps to help, and getting pretty bad sunburn when the sun finally did come out. Needless to say I feel like utter shite at the moment, and have been in bed pretty much since I arrived in La Paz!
Right, I'm going back to bed.
