Tuesday, Feb 17: "El Alamo" Bar with the group. On Tuesday nights they have a beer pong special and since a lot of people from the exchange program are from Europe, they are true beer pong virgins. we decided to give them a little taste of some good ole american fun, and maybe win a few rounds. it was fun to see them get so excited about winning and to teach them all the rules. good time, even though it wasn't very argentinean.

Wednesday, Feb 18: Out to Plaza Serrano. Went to a bar called Madagascar that had a comedy show. sometimes i think im a little bit more ballsy then i really am so i decided to take part in the comedy show with my friend fernando. the host of the show was an argentinean drag queen so not only was it difficult to understand what she was saying, but it was difficult to understand who she was actually hitting on. we took part in a few latin numbers then had to participate in a "telenovela" (soap opera drama). fernardo professed his love to me and i had no clue what was going on so i froze. we eventually won the show because the audience loved fernando. free champagne! who cares! then the show turned into a dance club and we danced the night away :)
another strange occurrence of that night..so buenos aires has a little bit of a problem with fake money.a friend of mine actually got a fake 100 from an atm. so one day, somehow i ended up with a fake 10. i realized it when i tried to buy a snack and they wouldnt take it. now, it was my goal to get rid of this fake bill as soon as possible so everywhere i went i took notice if they checked the bills or not. so on this night, on our way back from plaza serrano, i figured it would fold the bill in half, hand it to the cabbie, and casually walk out, thinking he wouldn’t even look. well, to my dismay, he did, in fact, check the bill. we were only a few seconds out of the cab when he checked our bills and started beeping the horn. we ran inside our residence, got into the elevator, pressed our floor, scurried in our rooms and hid from both the cabbie and the guard. i looked out my window and saw the cab just leaving. phew, that was close.

Friday, Feb 20: Started out at a good steak restaurant. Ended up at a dance club called "Sumatra". Most of the exchange group went there so we pretty much took it over. americans everywhere but still a very good time.

Sunday, Feb 22: during the day we had a tour of tigre y san isidrio. good to see but not extremely exiciting. kind of gloomy weather. would have been better to see on a nicer day on my own. later to an extremely good steak restaurant called "Miranda"....yumbo

Monday, Feb 23: So every monday at a place called Konex, they have a live percussion concert from 7 to 10. extremely.extremely. good concert. the streets were crowded everywhere. very difficult to get tickets, but somehow we did. squeezed our way in, pushed up to the front and enjoyed every minute of their excellent performance. guys with dreads, tribal drums, cute uniforms. it was too good to explain. we stayed around after the show and got talking with the band so they invited us backstage to chill. talked, ate, hung out then decided to call a cab back. since we had missed dinner, we went down to the kitchen and asked the kitchen guys for any leftovers. they gave us some tomatoes, beets, and bread. not really appetizing, but still filled up our hungry stomachs. of course now they think me and sydney are crazy people because we scarfed down an entire plate of beets, but who really cares i guess.

In other news, my roommates and Sydney have taken notice of my extreme passion for naps. "Why are you always sleeping?".."Another nap?"..i get these remarks frequently. I really don't know why i sleep so much more than everyone else. maybe i should start exercising or maybe i should just listen to my mom and take vitamins. well, we'll see...

Also, this weekend, I'm going to Uruguay! Few bumps in the road, though. Like the idiot that I am, I accidentally bought the wrong ticket for the ferry. We are leaving on Saturday and coming back Sunday, and I bought a return ticket for Saturday. Hopefully the gods are on my side and i will be able to get a refund. everyone cross your fingers please.

Well thats all for now. I will try to update my blog more often, since i havent in a while. Un beso, miss everyone!
