Went to El Chalten after spending at few days at Calafate. Just when we thought that it would be quite some time before we would camp again, we were tempted by the pictures taken at sunrise of Mt Fitz Roy taken by a gp of Israeli guys. We decided to camp 1 night at Parque National Los Glacier in El Chalten. El Chalten is 4 hrs away from Calafate and there´re really nothing other than mountains surrounding small little quiet town. As the climbing season is over in a few days, there´re very few travellers and many shops haved closed for the season.

The mountains are so near that we could just walk like 400m and start trekking into the mountains. So we grabbed our rented camping equipment and trekked up 3 hours to the campsite. On the way to the campsite, it was raining, cloudy and gloomy. The mountains were practically covered in the clouds. Quite disappointed at first. Wondered if we were stupid enough to forgo the comfort of sleeping in the warm hostel to see nothing but grey sky. Still, we tried our luck and dragged our body out of the sleeping bag at 6am on the next morning to climb up to attempt to see sunrise. Though there wasn´t a specutalar sunrise, but at least we could still see some outline of the peaks. And after we descended, the clouds have cleared and the peak of Fitz Roy and the surrounding moutains look so beautiful against the blue sky. Can´t stop snapping our cameras away. Felt happy again! All the hardship of sleeping on the hard cold ground is worthwhile afterall 😊
