The first thing I noticed after landing in Puerto Iguazu was the stifling heat. It was quite hot in Buenos Aires but it was much hotter here and the humidity was awful. Once again I was clueless when it came to directions and spent about half an hour wandering through town trying to find my hostel. As before, after sweating my way to the hostel, I found that it was actually quite close to the where I´d been dropped off. Hopefully my powers of navigation will be restored soon. To quote Lonely Planet the Iguazu falls are not your average "isn’t gravity nice" type of waterfalls. This one is bigger, better and wider than all the waterfalls I've seen so far combined. Apparently there are close to 300 falls with up to 80 meters height spread out over 2km. As one tourist brochure claims 1.2 million liters of water run over the falls ever second. Here I am in Puerto Iguazu...just 18 hours north of Buenos Aires, by bus. I know many of you may cringe at the thought of spending 18 hours on a bus but I assure you, this is no Greyhound! This is business or first class all the way...we purchased the cama suite, which is a fully reclining seat, warm and plushs with blankets and pillows. About 1/2 hour into our journey the male "steward" comes by and offers us glasses of whiskey! Well, what started as a night in a stinking hot, mosquito ridden room full of drunken guys returning at all hours and sleeping through their alarm for a good half hour, and after being deserted by my new German girlfriend at the bar last night who went home with an Israeli guy.... my stay in Iguazu has been nothing less than GORGEOUS!!!! Friday, I decided to see the Brazilian side, which only takes around 2 hrs for the circuit, as I had to wait the whole morning to get my visa to travel tomorrow to Brazil. Gorgeous!!! ¡Hola chicos! Well, this is going to be a very short update, because I am VERY tired...it is 10:38 here, 11:38 in Brasil, and who knows in Estados Unidos. Our flights here went basically without a problem. The Continental flight from Houston to BA was actually reasonably comfortable, with our own personal screens with a choice of movies and even video games.The only slight hitch was we were about a half hour late getting out of Houston, so a half hour late getting into Buenos Aires, and it took FOREVER to get thorough customs. Well we have made it through yet another crazy day, we have been up since 6:30 didn't´t get in until 3:30am but we made it to Iguaçu National Park this morning in enough time to get lost loose about ten pounds of water from sweating... buy a souvenir and still find our jungle tour jeep...actually it found us wandering aimlessly around the park. We did see a Toucan, a GIANT lizard and this crazy little raccoon/anteater thing..they practically chase you if your holding a coke, on our way to what we thought was the right spot. On our way to the airport we read in the lonely planet that the summers in northern argentina can be brutal, since we have arived this morning after a 12 hour bus ride we got to see first hand just how brutal it can be.. it´s somwhere in the 100´s right now and the humidity is relentless.
