Day 222 - Tuesday 29 April
My bus arrived in Puerto Iguazu early afternoon and even though its only a small town, I´ve decided to pay an extra 50p and stay somewhere close to the bus station thats had good reviews. After BA I don't want to do myself over agin just to save 50p a day.
With it only being half an hour to kick off in the Man Utd v Barcelona champions league semi-final I quickly rushed out to find somewhere showing it. It actually turned out quite difficult as its only a small town and most of the bars and resturants weren't open yet. Finally with 5 mins to spare I found somewhere. It seems like other people were having the same problem too as people kept running in every few minutes. In the end there were about 20 Brits all in the one place watching the game. I've not seen this many Brits in the same place since New Zealand. After BA it was great.
As Man Utd won and there were a few Utd fans there we all decided to stay out and carry on drinking. It was just what I needed after
the past few days on my own and as everybody else was travelling away from Brazil I got some good tips on places to go there, although I can't actually remember any of them now.
Day 223 - Wednesday 30 April
As its only a small town apart from the waterfalls theres not that much to see here. However with the Chelsea v Liverpool game on this afternoon theres no way i'm seeing them today. As I didn't go to the golden triangle in Asia, I decided to spend the morning at the 'Tres Fronteras', where the borders of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay meet. Its only a 15 min walk from town. On route I decidedI quite like the town. Its a jungle town with green foliage everywhere and the roads are all a red colour from the clay in the mud.
Theres a nice view at the Fronteras, its definitely worth doing if your in the area, so I stayed there for about half an hour before heading back to my hostel to wait for the football to start. Just before kick-off I went back to the bar i'd been in yesterday. Unfortunately theres a Boca
game on later so they're only showing the first half of the Chelsea, Liverpool game. As no one from yesterday was there I figured they must be in another resturant so went to have a look. I couldn't find them or anyone else showing the game and as 20 mins of the game had already passed rushed back to the first bar. It turned out they showed the full 90 mins but just as extra time was starting they switched over the channel. I couldn't believe it, nor could anybody else. There were about 10 people watching the game and nobody wanted to see the Boca game. There was a sudden rush as everybody asked for their bills. Just then an English bloke came running in. Hes persuaded another resturant to keep the Liverpool game on but needs to bring in more customers. We all raced over there.
What a game. Cant believe I nearly missed that extra time. Unlike last night though everybody drifted off rather than stay, so I went back to the hostel and had a quiet night.
Day 224 - Thursday 1 May
After 3 days I finally made it out to see
the waterfalls. Apparently there the second biggest in the world. Unfortunately the weathers turned for the worst and its cold and overcast, but nethertheless they really are amazing. I wont say much more just look at the photos and the video clip. If you do ever venture out over here make sure you go over to San Martin Island. The view from their is breathtaking. Even though it was chucking it down whilst I was there and I got soaked its still great.
I spent
