Our next major stop was Rosario, however, to get there we had to stop on Posadas. We were hoping to spend the day stopping at a Jesuit Missions location, then move on to Posadas to catch a night bus to Rosario. Our plan was destroyed when we got to Posadas and everyone was taking their holiday vacation, which meant their were no buses out until Monday, 2 days later. So, we were left in Posadas.
Our journey began with a rough bus ride to the Jesuit Missions. It was a 5 hour ride in a tiny bus, with AC that didnīt really work, 'plus the bus stopped nearly every 10 minutes to pick someone up or drop someone off. It was like going from Wausau to Madison on the back roads and stopping at every little town on the way.
The Jesuit missions were very interesting. We learned quite a bit about activities that took place upon the colonial arrival. We had a nice meal with the best empinates we have had yet. When we were done we hopped on another bus to Posadas, this one was much nicer and cooler.
Our first night in Posadas we stayed at a dodgy hotel, with a very creepy elevator. However, it seemed a better option than the dark stair well. We only stayed one night, because they were booked. The hotel did have a very nice breakfast with very good coffee. We spent our time in Posadas walking around and such. On Sunday most everything was closed. We walked to the river bank and saw a nice view of Paraguay and the bridge that connects it to Argentina. It seemed that a lot of locals came to the river bank to picnic and drink mate. We watched some futbol in a pub with a beer and pizza and a great fresh fruit drink, with some sugar of course. Beyond that nothing else was very exciting.
