Argentina

Argentina Location

I hope everyone in the US enjoyed Thanksgiving! I missed out this year obviously as it is a US holiday and my friends here are all from Europe or South America. I also had somewhat of a hard time explaining why exactly we celebrate Thanksgiving....I mean I know all about the pilgrims and things you learn in grade school, but what historical signifigance does Thanksgiving really have to the United States? Instead, the day after I went with 4 Norwegians to Iguazu Falls in the northern part of Argentina on the border with Brazil. The falls were absolutely spactacular and we [View Full Entry]

November 3, 2007 After a seventeen hour bus journey I finally arrived in Puerto Iguazu feeling rather shabby. To be fair the Argentinians do bus journeys in some style. I was able to sip vino tinto in my fully reclining armchair for the whole journey for the same price as a single to Milton Keynes. And lets face it, who wants to go to Milton Keynes? I dumped my bags at the Hostel Inn and set off for the Parque Nacional Iguazu. The falls are absolutely stunning. It is very difficult to capture how incredibly powerful they are with photographs. Allegedly, [View Full Entry]

One of the great disadvantages of the various TV travel documentaries on channels such as Discovery and National Geographic is that there aren't too many surprise venues left in the world these days. As an example, while we loved our visit to Machu Picchu, it wasn't a total surprise, as I guess we had viewed that location many times previously on telly. But I'm pleased to report a pleasant surprise on our first viewing of the Iguazu Falls. Not only was the scope and magnitude of them greater than we had anticipated, but no TV channel can quite reproduce the thundering [View Full Entry]

K and I during the fast boat ride at the falls before getting drenched!
Katharine, Cheryl (our friend visiting from London) and I took a flights over the weekend and visited Iguazu falls which we have heard so much about from our family and friends. We found a great hostel called Hostel Inn which had hotel amenities and a huge kidney shaped swimming pool which we spent quite a few hours under the sun. Iguazu falls was simply breathtaking and no matter how many pictures we took of it, we could not capture the beauty and power of its amazing presence. You have to be there to enjoy it.... All I can say is that [View Full Entry]

Iguazu

Iguazu Falls - 2nd - 5th November 2007 We spent one day at the Argentina side of the falls and half a day at the Brazilian side. Totally amazing and sooooooo much water! On our arrival day it was raining and quite cool, we were worried, Iguazu has a sub tropical climate and gets really hot and humid - that is what we were expecting and hoping for! Thankfully the sun shone the next day.....we took a trip in the Parque Nacional Iguazu which started with an 8 km truck ride through the jungle with a guide explaining the flora and [View Full Entry]

Iguazu Falls

[View Full Entry]

Hostel Inn Iguazu Argentina

Mai visto in vita mia uno spettacolo tanto impressionante.
