Puerto Iguazu
Puerto Iguazu
Devils Throat
Hola from Argentina! Well lets see,we left Foz in Brazil and crossed over the border to Puerto Iguazu. I must say what a simple border crossing it was none of this walking for miles in no mans land between immigrations as we did in Asia, you just get on a bus and off to get your passport stamped, lovely and stress free for me! We stayed at a hostel called Hostel Inn its inbetween the falls and the town. It was like a mini resort in Spain, the pool was amazing and there was 2 bars and a restaurant,it was pretty cool. Puerto Iguazu

I got to Puerto Iguazu, the town near Iguazu Falls yesterday. The hostel I am staying at here is great (supposedly the best in Argentina), so I spent yesterday at the pool having fun. Today I went to the Argentine side of the falls. First I had a ride through the jungle in a 4x4, which was a little boring, but it's nice to be back in the jungle. Then a boat ride through some rapids, and then into some of the falls (not all the way in, but pretty close). Everybody got soaking wet, and it was great fun. After [View Full Entry]

Right....finally - my first entry after nearly 3 weeks of travelling all down south in argentina...but if i don't start writing here at the end of the world, i probably never will...but you know travelling is a job in itself, and one has hardly any time. feel like the white rabbit.. (or maybe im just lazy) so, after a really, really long flight to buenos aires via sao paolo i decided not to stay in BA but to head straight to the iguazu falls - that meant after getting off the plane getting straight onto a bus for 20hrs! but beware, [View Full Entry]

Here I am, back to South America...back to the internet world...so back to work...on the road. Was really happy to be back to connection...even if this means a lot of emails to go through! The Wow effect of this trip is starting to get in full gear...I don't know in which condition I'll finish this trip or even this year...but who cares, let's enjoy! Iguacu Falls, Victoria Falls and Niagara Falls...which one is the most impressive? I don't know, but trust me I'll have the answer by the end of this summer. Two more entries to wait for another dream trip...and [View Full Entry]

from the argentinian side

Iguazu falls It took about 30 hours on a total of 5 buses, with a lot of waiting around in between to get from Paraty to Iguazu. I have to say at this point how amazing the Argentinian buses are - like being on a first class flight - huge reclining seats, movies, dinner, wine, breakfast, blanket and a pillow. I have actually started to look forward to the long journeys! And to top it all off, I managed to acquire a copy of Harry Potter no 7 to keep me company :-) So this was the first (of many) stint [View Full Entry]

You can´t see them here, but these wetlands had more birds and crocodiles than you can poke a stick at.
Buenas dias from Argentina! I hope this blog entry finds everyone fit and well and enjoying the cricket season! After a great couple of weeks in Bolivia I have spent the last two weeks in northern Argentina and I have been having a great time. I spent a few days in the desert, which was similar to the desert in southern Bolivia so I won´t bore you with too many details, only to say that I loved my first taste of Argentinian life. Pretty much a typical day for an Argentinian seems to run as follows: 7.30am: Sunrise. But you don´t [View Full Entry]

The view from our Hotel bedroom
Arrived late afternoon with a crowd from a SAGA holiday group including Judith Chalmers and husband. Thankfully not resident in our Hotel. We are right in the middle of the national park overlooking the main falls. The first couple of hours on Day 1 were spent organising the tours, although we saw about 10% in the late evening -- stunning!! day 2 started with the whitewater boat ride through the rapids to the face of the two main falls where we were saturated by spray and the boat´s wild movements. A quick shower again in the hotel and off to explore [View Full Entry]

What a difference a few waterfalls can make to someones mood. After getting out of Uruguay as fast as possible I was in a town that was not even mentioned in my lonely planet book, Concordia. I was a bit nervous before going because I wasnt even 100 percent sure I could make it to Puerto Iguazu from this city. It turns out the city boasts 200,000 people and was quite beautiful. Had I known this I would have stayed for more than 7 hours. I was lucky to find a company leaving that evening to Puerto Iguazu so I booked [View Full Entry]

I reckon they are more like ant-eaters crossed with raccoons!
Country number 4 beckons! (and cheekily in a way also country number 5) Its off to Iguasu Falls, hopefully for any of you who read the title of this blog and were thinking that I was either illiterate or really hungover....the name Igausu has cleared things up. Iguasu falls is a collection of waterfalls on the Argentinian and Brazilian border. Now to get to the Argentine side from Paraguay, you have to first pass through Brazil (no immigration required) and then into Argentina. So on arrival, us being the brilliant planners that we are, didnt bother with booking the hostel we [View Full Entry]
