Having spent the day searching for the perfect Boca Juniors memento, we found some compensation in the form of the cat garden. Actually the botanical gardens, this area is off limits to dogs (very unusual in BA) so it has somehow become the refuge of all stray cats. We do not exaggerate when we say the place is full of them. They are all in pretty good shape as well, & it seems like they have been rounded up & spayed/neutered as well. Best of all, most of them are friendly & love a good stroke too; excellent.
Anyway, the evening was another great one. We met Jenny, Mira & Pratesh at their hostel & headed, at a fast pace, to the Academia above Tortoni's Cafe for a tango lesson. Rather than our previous experience of basic steps for gringos, this class taught us 8 step & 10 step combos which were far more complicated but looked far more professional when completed correctly! We followed this with a set menu at a local traditional restaurant; gnocchi & icecream (though separate & not up to late night Fraise's). Then it was back to Palermo by taxi. Buenos Aires is a great place to be, although I have no idea how people make it to work in the morning.
