Hi everybody again. After our exhausting but at the same time incredible adventure in the Patagony we arrived in
Bahia Blanca, a small city south of Buenos Aires where we started our resting therapy with Aimar´s family. We were very well fed and looked after. After 3 very nice days we headed towards Buenos Aires where we have stayed for the last 10 days. The Buenos Aires experience has been an incredible one. Both Aimar and Ivan met their Argentin families. Both families migrated to Argentina at the beginning of the 20th century. By then, Argentina was the 5th richest country in the world and it enjoyed a far more powerful position than its European neighbors. Galicians, vascs, italians, germans and many more eurpean citizens crossed the atlantic and came over here and as a result Argentina suffered an incredible economical and cultural development which is clearly seen in a city as Buenos Aires. However, due to a succesion of miltary dictatorships and corrupt governments over the last 50 years, Argentina has lost part of this development. Buenos Aires is a bit of Madrid and Paris together. It rests beside the largest river in the world, the river plate, which is so big that when it was discovered 500 years ago it was called the drinking water sea. It
El Americano
El negocio de pastas frescas de la familia de Aimar en Bahia Blanca, abierto desde hace màs de 70 años. is a city of big avenues, tango bars, night life, sweet milk and asado scent. It is a city you fall in love for. From La Boca neighborghood, to Palermo, passing through Santelmo and the well known Plaza de Mayo with its pink house, from San Martin to Retiro, there is no bar, small street or graffiti you don´t feel admiration for. And football... that sport which in this country is a national matter. El monumental of River plate or La bombonera of Boca Juniors. A matter for division among Buenos Aires inhabitants. The three of us enjoyed in both stadiums the Argentinians in their true colors. You have to see it to understand it. So after 10 incredible days in this wonderful city to which we have asked for shared citisenship and cultural asylum, we are heading towards Iguazu falls to keep enjoying our adventure.
We can´t finish this post without saying thanks to our families for the amazing tenderness with which they have treated us.
A big hug from the three boludos...
