Heading out again, another long haul, what to do, but read books, chat, play cards, and watch the scenery go by. By now, we´re getting into the pampas, so the views during the first hour of the day will be the same as the views during the 8th hour of the driving day, or the eleventh.... The cities in between aren´t much to look at, so no relief there.
When we started hitting a point to make up camp, the heavens opened and a big downpoor came our way. So no reason to stop there. So that didn´t work with a plan for a bush camp, meaning we´d have to find another spot.
Luck was with us this time, of the strangest kind. Setting up bush camp, by the side of the road, next to a one-man police station and a pub...... So, 2 unexpected conveniences: Security, and a cold beer after dinner ! Muy bien !
The owner of the pub/convenience store insisted we´d come over for a small ´tour´ of his shop, which worked out to be quite interesting. Haven´t seen a hand-turned (as in no electric motor) meat slicer, ever, even though my family has
had a nutcher shop forever.
The locals were quite happy to discus all sorts of things. But mainly soccer (la machina narancha and of course el mana de dios), and of course their argentinian dutch princess (which Bin and myself got to meet before leaving Oz).
So all in all, a quite surprising lovely bush stop, and we did make it into Buenos Aires in good time the next day too !!!
