I'm writing this sitting listening to the Atlantic Ocean, feeling the breeze and smelling the fresh ocean air oh right and drinking a glass of fabulous Argentinian wine:):) livin life! Well it's day 4 on our wild adventure. We got the RV yesterday and by the time we left BA it was around 4pm, we were all so excited to get on the road! Wowzers RVing in Argentina is crazy....wild roads and NO buddy speaks English, but we are having loads of laughs. Last night we drove about an hour outside the city to a camp site that had a swimming pool, it's 37 with humidex......and when you stop the RV turns into an oven....It was a site for sore eyes. Going swimming was an ordeal......they had a public nurse on site, we had to all ... read more

Mastered the Subte (underground rail system) today which is an excellent and cheap (1.10 pesos per trip - like 30 cents I think - no matter the distance or stops) way to get around the city. Our plan for the day was a visit to Lujan Zoologica (zoo). We caught the number 57 bus to Lujan (10.50 pesos from Plaza de Misere so less than $3 to go about 40k South of BA). As you arrive in the centro (centre) the massive church looms. Whether you are religious or not the architecture and stained glass of the immense church (grand basilica) is truly impressive although the abundance of dogs roaming around the square and lazing inside is a little bizarre. Taxi back up the road to the zoo (30) and entry to the zoo (160.00 = ... read more

Today I went on my first pilgramage. I did not walk the 68 kilometers, or go crawling on my hands and knees....there were also no tears. Instead I hoped on the number 57 bus on its way to Lujan where Maria de Lujan, patron saint of Argentina, as well as protector of bus drivers and passangers, made her resting place in 1630. Considering her protecting me on all of my travels throughout the city I thought it best I go and visit with her. The bus ride there was by far the best part of the trip. Oddly after 6 months I had not strayed far from the city limits of Capital Federal. The pilgramage was my first jaunt out into what I had started to question existed and others call "Argentina". I am pleased to ... read more

A couple of hours away from BA is the sleepy town of Lujan, famous for religious pilgrimages to see the "Virgin of Lujan" who is everywhere. Since visiting we have seen her everywhere we have been. Spooky as we never noticed her before! The Basilica is well worth popping in to see, but it really is a town to visit to chill out rather than look for much excitement. On 9 July several thousand people gathered in the centre of town to celebrate Argentina's Independence Day. The National Folkloric Ballet entertained us for a while before a military band played a tune or two. Then opera singers from BA's Teatro Colon joined local childrens' choirs to sing the National Anthem, all 9 verses. That took over 20 minutes!! If you really want to, a boat will ... read more
