Following the usual trend of our trip, the guys and I celebrated our last night in BA together and might have actually reached our all time craziness level. We all did our own thing for dinner, cooked some rice and sat around sporcling and drinking Quilmes. Actually, we took our sporcling expertise and turned it into a pretty fantastic drinking game. You have to drink for each answer you don't get, so if you miss 9, you drink 9 seconds. If I'd been playing that alone I would have been hammered after one game but we pooled our extensive knowledge of random facts and did pretty well.
Next we cabbed it to Palermo to this really fun bar called Carnal aka Havana Club. The guys had discovered it earlier in the trip and I must say, they have good taste. It's a restaurant downstairs and open roofed restaurant/bar upstairs. We got a table, which are shaded with trees and draped with a canopy of white cloth, and hung out until around 1. I had my first Fernet y Cola, an Argentine classic that, like other Argentine customs, is a bit of an acquired taste. The drink is made of strong
herbs and tastes like mate would if you chilled it and turned it into a cocktail. Definitely the kind of stuff that puts hair on your chest but I actually really enjoyed it.
We headed across the street to Niceto Club, which becomes Club 69 on Thursdays. Made sure to get there right at 1 so we could save some pesos and get in for free. God, I don't even know how to explain the experience we had there. Clubs aren't my usual favorite nightlife scene but if they were I would choose Club 69. Completely out of control, drag queens pole dancing, showy, flashy, glitter, feathers, the whole 9 yards. It was all a blur of flashing lights, disco balls and bright colors. We met some nice girls from Philly, hung out with them and danced, danced, danced. Hah. Then after, we sat at some random outdoor restaurant and ordered beers and a picada platter, which is an appetizer plate of different meats, cheeses and bread. Deeelicious drunk food. Anyway, the story ended like usual, not falling asleep until the sun was up. Typical.
I stole these pictures from google because I forgot my camera and visual aids were necessary to explain.
