For our last day in our beloved Buenos Aires, we again decided to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city and walk our neighborhood. We had the pleasure of showing our new friends, the Commodore's, around. They thought we were joking when we said we would give them the grand tour. They had no idea! :) There are about 75-100 great little boutiques in our neighborhood, Palermo Viejo. It is the up and coming designer district of Argentina. Most of the shops are the designers only store. It was also our day to make the purchases we had been deciding between. We took Reggie and Monchiere to our favorite empanada place for lunch and then we set out.
Jo came away with a few new bags and I even bought myself a new leather messenger bag. For an early dinner, we went back over to the little french cafe, oroycandido. We had a long talk with the owner, who actually was a film director in LA for many years. He gave us the grand treatment. We had llama, alligator, smoked trout, and more amazing goat cheese. He gave me this grape liquor at the end of the meal that
I couldn't even drink. It was like jet fuel. After dinner, we said our goodbyes to the Commodore's. I don't think it will be the last time we see these new friends!! :)
We leave BsAs in the morning and fly to the Patagonian mountains. We will spend 6 days there in a lakeside cabin. I don't know if people will read this but if you do, know that BsAs is truly a special place. We have fallen in love with Palermo Viejo and I can say without a doubt that we will be back. I am even getting a little choked up to think that we are leaving. Josephine commented earlier that this was the best week of her life. I have to agree that it is up there with my best weeks as well. Palermo Viejo/BsAs we will always love you!!!
