Hi Everyone,
Well, Gerard and I just finished our last day in the lovely Buenos Aires. We are flying out tomorrow morning to Mendoza, Argentina, which is near the Chile border. We are staying there for 3 days and heading back to Buenos Aires where we will catch a ferry to Uruguay.
The tango show last night was awesome. We had a nice time although a bit of challenge getting back to the hotel becasue we were out of pesos. One thing to note here is that ATMs are not easy to come by! We managed to get back to the hotel and pay the taxi driver the right amount but it was a lesson learned to make sure we have enough pesos in our pockets!
Our last night here we went for some Mexican food! We were dying for some Coronas rather than wine. One thing we observed here was how everyone drinks cafe (coffee). And it is not like the coffee back home. This is expresso with some milk and a lot of sugar. The Argentines are wired all day long on this. I guess when you eat dinner around 10 pm you need some caffeine to keep you going. So at the end of each meal, no matter the time of day, you must order a cafe con leche. Very good!
We are going to miss the city but are ready for some quiet time in Mendoza. Mendoza is the wine country of Argentina and is near the Andes Mountains. We are staying outside of Mendoza in a little lodge. We are planning on doing the wine tours on Wed and Thurs.
I hope to post something tomorrow but not sure if our new hotel has WiFi.
Off to bed to prepare for a day of travel tomorrow.......
buenas noches
