Before his "downfall". Apparently he wasn't supposed to be up there as it was off trail and they're trying to protect the area from the burgeoning tourist traffic.

Valle de la Luna, otherwise known as Moon Valley, is located about 13km west of San Pedro. It is part of the Reserva Nacional los Flamencos which is divided into a number of areas.
