Our 4th day here was a Thursday like no other. Breakfast, as has become our routine, was at 6:30am in the casita of the nuns, Sisters Gloria, Paulita and Mirtala. The nuns are great. They like an occasional beer, will try whisky, add copious amounts of sugar to their coffee and are cheery and mostly full of jokes. The Adventures of Little and Large

We are Douglas and Rhona and this is our blog from Central and South America. We're spending three months volunteering for a charity in Jocotan, Guatemala, the centre of a hilly area with a large indigenous Mayan population and a lot of inequality and child malnutrition. Asociacion Santiago Jocotan has various programmes: but primarily it runs a small hospital, and works to reduce the child malnutrition you find in the surrounding villages.
