Monday 27/08/12 – We headed south this morning to the Sunset Crater NP which is just north of Flagstaff. The volcano erupted in the early 1100’s and because it is situated on the edge of the desert, the land has barely recovered since. The lava from the eruption has cooled and remained almost totally undisturbed for almost a thousand years! There are a few shrubs and a sprinkling of lichen ... read more
