July 23—I drove to Colorado Springs and took Jacque and Shade to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. In all my visits to the area, I had never seen the zoo. It is unusual because it is located on the side of a mountain. The walking can be very strenuous not only because of the elevation (about 7000 feet) but having to go up and down the mountain side.
