Home of the Virgin Mary
First stop of our tour was the reputed final home of the Virgin Mary. This is where Mary went after Jesus was crucified. It's interesting that it was the Council of Ephesus in 431 AD that first created the cult and sainthood of the Virgin Mary, who once lived in their city.

When I woke this morning I could still feel our ship moving. Debarkation for Patmos was supposed to start at 9:30. In my windowless room it was a bit difficult to guess just what time of day it might be and not having a decent watch with me I had no idea what was going on.
