I left Munich in a torrential thunderstorm – not a good sign given that I was heading into the mountains. I was trying to get to the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, nestled in the Alps near the Austrian border. Unfortunately there was a rail replacement service in operation, so I had to take a bus for half of the way then catch a train. The bus was 15 minutes late arriving and the connecting ... read more
