History of Ahvaz takes you back to the time when the name was coined in Darius' epigraph. The Naqsh-Rostam inscription also carries this word in the form of "Khaja" or "Khooja". Initially, this city was called Ohrmazd-Ardaser and it dates back to the time when the Sassanid dynasty was established.
