We took a taxi to the Secret Garden Hostel in Quito for our transfer to their partner hostel at Cotopaxi. This place was really cool, with an open air roof terrace that had fantastic views all over the city. However, it was more expensive than the hostel we had stayed in, and breakfast wasn't even included. It seemed like every traveller and his brother was staying there though.
