This photo shows you doing yet something else that Indians would find strange. Only low caste poor Indians sit on the ground or floor in India, so it would seem strange for a white western person to do it, as we are always granted high status for no real reason. At least, that is how I intepreted how the sitting on the floor was seen, when people gave me strange amused looks, for sitting on the train floor beside the women with baskets of things to sell. I didn't care what people thought or expected, because there were no seats left, and the best view was to be had, sitting on the floor at the open train door, not to mention the cool breeze when the train was moving. :)
