Inside the Coliseum

Before we entered the building we were issued radios and headsets similar to those our guide used in Florence. Somehow we initially ended up the wrong tour guide and got halfway into the Colisseum when he realized he wasn't supposed to be meeting up with Jurgen's group, but with Johan's group instead. Once that problem got straightened-out we went to the top of the Colisseum. Our tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable but having been on this tour a couple times before I was more interested in keeping cool and staying awake. Every time we've been at the Coliseum the heat has been intense. Come to think of it, every minute I've been in Italy it's been bloody hot.
Day Six (Thursday)

As if the regular Italian breakfast wasn't bad enough, our otherwise wonderful hotel didn't have a breakfast room that could accomodate our group. We had to walk two blocks to a tiny strip mall. The empty lots we passed were chock full of empty bottles, cardboard boxes, dog crap and waist high weeds.
