So what is the Forbidden City, or Imperial Palace? It is a place of kings and kingdoms, a place where if you were poor, you couldn't live there unless you basically served the royal people such as in the role of a courtesan or eunuch. Therefore there had to be a clear defining point regarding where the boundaries start and where they end so it contains a thick outer wall and an inner wall. A place ... read more
