House on Chiloe Island

This house was awesome! Those are Alerce shingles, much like the other picture of "old" Chiloe Architecture in this gallery. Alerce wood is like Sequoia wood, highly resistant to rot and insects. These shingles are also the reason why most Alerces have been logged. :(
