There are not as many people always walking about as New York and the traffic is definately not as bad. I got the metro which is opposite the hostel about 9 and then upto metro centre. I walked a couple of blocks in the rain to the White House. It was amazing to see. Lafette Park was infront so had a quick walk round, it was tiny there were mainly 5 statues of heros.
