Outside a Vietnamese traditional house

In Vietnam, at entrance of the old houses, there was a "giại cửa" or "chấn phong" made of bamboo. The Vietnamese in the old days used this to prevent wind, rain, sun and also devils to enter their houses. It also made others unable to see directly their ancestors altars.
