As well as 1st October being the birthday of Communism in China, this year the 3rd October was also an important date in the Chinese calendar as it was the Mid-Autumn Festival. Sometimes known as the Moon Festival, it has been celebrated for over 3,000 years on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month and parallels the Autumn Equinox in the solar calendar when the moon is at its roundest and fullest.
