From Gros Morne we drove to the northern tip of Newfoundland and L'Anse aux Meadows - the site of the first European settlement (Norse) in North America over 1000 years ago. The UNESCO site recaptures the struggle to survive in this harsh climate with actors in role (with local accents) in sod huts going about their daily tasks. On to Twillingate. Comment on dig site
We are retired school principals (Peel, Ontario - Canada). Our fair weather home is at Sauble Beach at the base of the Bruce Peninsular.
We have a CS 34 sailboat that we have sailed from Lake Ontario to Wiarton, where we enjoyed 7 great seasons sailing around Georgian Bay and the North Channel.
In October 2008 we trucked "Gust O'Wind" to Deltaville, Virginia - planning to take her south to the Florida Keys and perhaps the Bahamas.
