New old bikes

We recently bought two 21 speed bikes from a teacher returning to Canada. They had bought them used from someone else so we paid them half what they had paid. 150 yuan or under 40 Canadian dollars. It included two helmets but helmets are a rarity in China. The "new" bikes allowed us to ride up into the hills around town and see what was going on. Note the seaweed lying on the "grass". They leave it out to dry in the sun. They roll it up and take it off to be processed into food. Apparently seaweed is very popular as a vegetable although I would rather each brussel sprouts. Bike maintenace is another story unto itself.
