Ganzi...a meeting place for the prefecture..in a high valley..11,300 ft, surrounded by 20,000 ft sharp jagged mountains. The monastery overlooks the town and the confluence of two rivers. From the monastery, the town, mostly adobe looks cozy and tucked up against the ridge on which it sits. I am a 72 year old psychiatrist always interested in traditional and village life. Past travels have been to the minority villages in Yunnan Province, China with Marty Newman and India, Bhutan, Kenya, Turkey, Nepal Guatemala, Mexico and various European Countries with my wife who I will be meeting in India at the end of this trip.
