We stored our luggage in our hotel in Hanoi and took overnight bags on our train trip to Haiphong. The train left from the Long Bien station which is close to the bridge by the same name. The trip took two and one-half hours. The seats were hard in contrast to the ones on the return trip to Hanoi. I still haven't figured that out as the cost of the tickets was the same each way.
