Oct 9th I get up late and am hanging about the RV store at 9.30 when I notice some other cyclists roll up, a tandem and a pannier laden bike. So I meet Hughes and Sue (on the tandem) and Paul, all beyond retirement age, one of them ten years ! They set off on the same day as me from San Diego and are on the same route, its amazing we have'nt met before. They overnighted in Hillsboro so have trav ... read more

I am a 47 year old ex pat Scot living in the Canary islands, Tenerife to be precise. I have been a travel addict for many years, taking the family holidays in places like Cambodia, Peru and Senegal. Last year I was so impressed on an RV tour of the Western USA that I decided it would be fun to do a solo cycle trip from coast to coast across America. It will be a challenge , but anyone who knows me will know that I thrive on challenges.
