Oct 8th It's a cold start from the 2,200 m campsite , thank god I can make a cup of tea, my hands are numb. I get away by 9 and start on the 1000ft , 300m climb to Emory pass, its a grind but you get the first hour cycling free as you are fresh, and I am there in less than an hour. On the way there is no traffic and I see four deers crossing the road, a bit startled by my appearence in this silen ... read more

Comment on cuppa in the forest
I am a 47 year old ex pat Scot living in the Canary islands, Tenerife to be precise. I have been a travel addict for many years, taking the family holidays in places like Cambodia, Peru and Senegal. Last year I was so impressed on an RV tour of the Western USA that I decided it would be fun to do a solo cycle trip from coast to coast across America. It will be a challenge , but anyone who knows me will know that I thrive on challenges.
