A picture of a part of my room in our hotel in Santa Elena, Historias Lodge. It was a cute, family-run place (with a hellion of a little kid that like to run around causing havoc. I'd hate to be that kid's teacher in school!) The rooms were a little damp and smelled of mold. I think this is the place that gave me the sinus problems.

Today was the day we did our 7-hour trek from La Fortuna to Santa Elena and the Monteverde Cloud Forest. We started early in the morning by taking a van to Lake Arenal, Costa Rica's only lake at the base of the volcano. From there we boarded a bot that took us across the huge lake.
