From Dogubayazit I headed southwest to Van. I quickly learned that in this area of Turkey lived mainly Kurdish people and mainy of them still see themselves as a distinct population and culture separate from Turkish rule. We are off to Southeast Asia!! It is Svetla's first trip "East", actually west from Canada, and the third time for me. We plan to visit Hong Kong for 3 days, then Indonesia for about 7 weeks before Malaysia and Southern Thailand for the remaining couple of weeks. We are pretty excited (and nervous) but all in all it should be a great adventure and we expect to have fun exploring some exotic areas of this marvelous world.... full info
