Automatic Voltage Regulators

The voltage from the grid fluctuates so much here in Nigeria, appliances of any worth are always attached to AVRs which, true to their name, regulate the current so the appliance still gets fed a quasi-constant 220V. This one handles volatges anywhere from 180V to 280V, but (as I found out the hard way) not surges.

Call me a nerd (I do it all the time!), but I found the infrastructure here one of the most fascinating things about Nigeria.
