Arena at Colosseum

A jumble of ruins, all that’s left of the labyrinthine passages beneath the arena itself. In Roman times, this area had wooden flooring covered with canvas and sand. The four principal entrances were used by the gladiators, stagehands and corpse removers.

Buongiorno! It’s our last night in Rome so we thought we’d put up our pictures before going to bed. Tomorrow morning we pick up our rental car and start driving north.
