At the Jade Factory

Carving the jade is a skill possessed only by men. That is because families wanted to keep the skill within the family and women, once married, became members of the husband's family. So the skill was never taught to women. Polishing the carved jade, however, is reserved for women because it takes patience, which apparently is something women possess in greater quantity than men. For the sake of marital harmony, I will not make any comments on this.
