Stone Town is called Stone Town because the houses are made of coral stone. This photo gives a glimpse of what the walls are made of, however, many of the people are very poor, and damage to houses or poor maintenance is very common. As an extra note, election posters can be found all over town due to the recent election, this one is of the losing main opposition candidate of CUF.
